Day 16 – Your guilty pleasure show:

True, lately I have not been getting much pleasure out of my guilty pleasure show, it’s sad to say, but still, of all my shows this is definitely the one that falls the most into this category. It’s the show I am least likely to admit to watching, unless I hear or see others discussing it. ;) Still though, it's a lot less trashy/bad than I expected initially, especially given the source material (I glanced at the first chapter or so of the first book in the library once out of idle curiosity and it was SO bad!). The first two seasons, and a few of the episodes in the middle of season 3 are pretty good, they have some great characters (though they can be annoying sometimes too) and really engrossing and gripping storylines sometimes.   I also have really enjoyed many of the ships like Chuck/Blair, Lily/Rufus, Dan/Serena, and Nate/Vanessa in the past, though the writers have had this unfortunate tendency to screw around with them.  The setting of NYC is another fun part of the show, I love the in-between shots of the skyline and Central Park and such, and sometime I want to go to NYC again to spot all the filming locations! :)

HEE!! Gossip Girl was my guilty pleasure show, too. Just when I think it's bad enough that I can get out it suddenly gets good again. GYAH!

Lol, I still haven't quite reached the leaving point yet. I've never abandoned a show before, I think it would take a lot for me to do so...despite my frustrations with this past season, as you say, there were those great D/S bits in the finale to keep me hooked anyway, and also the last 5-6 epps before the winter hiatus IMO were really well done and amazing and made me excited about the show again. Bones, on the other hand, did not manage to deliver any episodes this past season that had the same effect on me (though there were several epps I enjoyed to be sure, especially the Supernatural-like epps, lol), so if I were to abandon a show right now Bones would come first. But I just can't bring myself to do it, out of loyalty, or remembrance of what the show once was, out of the ever present hope of B/B at last...*sigh*

I gave up on the show during the school year simply because I had SO many other shows to watch and, well, school! XD But once I was on break it was the first show I caught up on (and for that D/S scene alone it was worth it).

That's so funny! I actually thought Bones had vastly improved from S4 and I LOVED the majority of the episodes. Hopefully it will improve for you!

Ah see that was me with Bones....I watched the first epp, then would only watch/catch up at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Breaks (except for catching up a few epps to see the 100th soon after it aired), and then watched the last 5 epps when I came home for summer. With GG I fell a little behind before Christmas break, but otherwise more or less kept up.

And while I did think the opener for season 5 was better, and did enjoy a few of the epps (Avatar one, school reunion, etc), overall I liked season 4 more (besides the baby/amnesia arc, obviously). There were several season 4 epps that I really love too, like the airplane epp, the funeral epp, etc, and I thought the finale was very clever and fun, even if strange for a finale.

Oh well, hopefully I will enjoy next season more, though I'll be waiting until probably summer to watch it (I just have too many shows as it is, and I'm supposed to be doing other stuff besides watching TV while in Spain, lol). GG I'm also probably going to put on hold until Xmas/Summer as well though....

Oh and I watched the DW epp with Merlin Colin Morgan in it last night! :D So funny to see him in that role, I had no idea he had been on the show! Now that means every regular cast member from Merlin has appeared except for Bradley and Katie--I wish they'd appear on the show just so we'd have the full set!

Actually now that I think about it, that's the same percentage as with the Being Human cast--2/3! :p

GYAH. That episode is SO fantastic and Colin is amazing in it. I agree, Bradley and Katie need to get on board! I say one's not a real British actor until one has taken part in "television incest". ;-D

Well Katie was in "The Tudors" (her first TV appearance I think, and what made her want to try more acting--so that's another reason I'm thankful for The Tudors! ;)), and in "The Queen," so she's participated in some British TV incest....Bradley is the one who really needs to work on it, as far as I know! :p

I don't think an actor's a TRUE member of British television incest until they've also been on Doctor Who. ;-)

Good point! :) Now I'm trying to envision possible roles for Katie and Bradley and Aidan Turner on DW...:p

(Lol I had dinner with a friend and learned that she loves DW as well!!! :D)

I love GG but this past season was god awful for me, especially that finale, ugh. But I still love it so I will so be back next season.

And the books, the books are soooo bad they are good. LOL

Yeah, it was not a great season to be sure, though there was this streak of episodes before the winter hiatus (ending with the one where Chuck is hallucinating his dad and recalls that night in the hospital) that was really good and reminiscent of the old magic, IMO. I might not keep up live this upcoming season, though I'll definitely still watch it. I hear it may be it's last season though, and I must say the idea would not upset me too much...
