First off, the last TVD epp gave me a lot of ~feelings:

There's a whole world out there waiting for you )

I also wanted to congratulate my bb Nina Dobrev for winning the PCA for Best Drama Actress as the first write-in candidate ever--girl sure deserved the recognition, she has mad talent and was much better than the other candidates she was up against aside from Emily Deschanel perhaps (how exactly does someone like Blake Lively get these kinds of nods, seriously?). So glad about that, though still pissed at CBS's lame snubs of SPN (might as well get another use out of my "cbs sucks" tag, lol).

Last night I actually ended up watching Bones live on the air for the first time in god, IDEK, maybe since the season 3 finale in 2008? I think so's a long story (I was taping TVD though). LOLing as always at the unrealistic fake!Smithsonian stuff but okay epp overall--I was a bit confused about the end though...

Quick Bones question for those who watched this epp )

Since I've also expanded my icon collection and fandoms a lot since I last did it, I decided to do this Icon Meme again as well.  I made a deliberate effort to use different icons from last time where possible, which affected some of my selections:

I also finally saw Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy last Sunday, good stuff, and so many big British actors, lol. In that respect I particularly enjoyed seeing Edith's little cameo. ;) So many movies I want to see right now though, god, like 7, IDK how I'll manage them all....

And here is an adorable picture of my birdie Punky sleeping for your time:

"You're gonna do that vampire jumping thing, aren't you?" )
sherrilina: (Topher/Claire (Dollhouse))
So I've been meaning to post here for a while since I finally caught up with season 2 about what an INCREDIBLE and AWESOME Joss Whedon's newest show Dollhouse is--seriously, if you have not seen it yet, please try to watch it (it's sadly not going to be airing during November, so you have a month to watch only 17 episodes, if you want to watch from the beginning!), it is such a great, interesting, thought-provoking show (definitely more so than any other show I am watching so far--it's of the "makes you think about morality and philosophy and identity and other deep questions" variety), and right now it is in great danger of being canceled because of low ratings--in part because of it's Friday night death slot (apparently only on CBS does 5 million+ every Friday night get you canceled! *still bitter about Moonlight too*) and Fox's refusal to properly promote it, and its lame pairing with two comedies before it, and in part perhaps because it is kind of a difficult show for some to watch. If you do give it a try, and don't like it at first, please make sure to at least watch 1x06 before giving up....some of the early episodes are a little shaky!

I already have a ship (of course, lol) and some favorite characters: Spoilers up through 2x04 )

General discussion about viewing Dollhouse, Merlin, Gossip Girl, Bones, and Supernatural, cut for length )

TL;DR: I am now quite obsessed with Dollhouse and Supernatural, and am putting Merlin and Bones on pause for now until the Christmas holidays or summer....

[Error: unknown template qotd] Yes, in fact I am still participating in a boycott against CBS ever since they declared my business and viewership to be unwelcome by canceling the only show I watched on CBS, Moonlight, back in May of 2008. CBS has never interested me much in the way of shows, but then a show finally came along that did interest me, very much, and which got decent ratings and had a good, devoted fan base of just the demographic they were aiming for (rocking the 18-49 category, women, etc).....only for them to go an cancel it, despite all of this and our valiant efforts. I actually did call and email and mail them many times, and did mention that this was the only show I watched on CBS, and if they got rid of it, then I would go as well (since their network would no longer hold any interest for me)--and I've kept my word.

So yeah, I continue to boycott CBS--if it's even on in a room, I will leave the room until the channel is changed. They didn't want my business, and I will oblige them. To quote once more the song that they themselves played in the promos for the final two episodes of Moonlight, and which fits the situation well:

No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town.
And we won't come back your world is calling out.
We'll leave the past in the past,
Gonna find the future.
If misery loves company well,
So long, you'll miss me when I'm gone.

Won't look back,
When I say goodbye.

("When I'm Gone" by Simple Plan)

[Error: unknown template qotd]Oh TV couples--one of my favorite topics, and definitely a question that I remember coming up here before in these WB things....well of the three couples listed in the question, my favorite it definitely Chuck/Blair (the only one I have seen also, to be fair), though they are not my overall favorite TV couple (especially given all the crap the writers pull out at times).  I think I'll still stand by my previous answer, and say that Cordy/Angel from Angel is my all-time favorite TV couple, but there are a LOT of contenders.  For instance there's Arthur/Morgana from Merlin, the "duo" that I'm currently celebrating in my banner and default icon, Lily/Rufus (also from Gossip Girl), Booth/Brennan from Bones (in their best moments, I haven't been so happy with what the writers have been doing with them at times), and Mick/Beth from Moonlight (icon), whose greatness as a couple I have recently fully remembered thanks to my ML marathon last weekend--these two in particular are just so well-matched, and their interactions are two adorable and filled with chemistry.  I'm SO glad that the writers played it safe and gave them a happy ending in the season finale so that when it turned into the series finale thanks to CBS's immense suckage and idiocy the series ended on a good note (I would have wanted to kill the writers if they had ended things badly between M/B!)
sherrilina: (Eric (True Blood))
And so yet another obsession has struck--the HBO series True Blood and the Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse novels that spawned it! I have to say, I was originally not very impressed with the TV show when I watched the first couple of episodes last fall, but I decided to give the show another chance, and I'm very glad I did!  I have now marathoned up to the present and am watching it from week to week (SO disappointed there was no new episode this week!), and the days cannot go by fast enough until the next episode for's so fun to be excited about a new show.  To get more faster, and to see more of Eric (of whom I have heard so much, and who I already love just from the show!) I began reading the books, which are also great (once you get a few chapters into the first book at least--I had a similar experience as when I watched the show as far as not being impressed at first and then loving it)--I've finally begun the second book, "Living Dead in Dallas" ("To Live and To Die in Dallas" in Spanish if anyone's curious--I remember seeing a copy in the bookstore when I was there), aka season 2 of TB, though the show has indeed been deviating a lot from this book even more so than the last book--but mostly in a good way IMO!

So in short I now love True Blood, and Eric, and can tell already that I will be shipping Eric/Sookie! ;)  I'm happy that he'll be in every episode of season 2....

This new craze has reawakened my love for vampires as well--this past weekend when a friend was visiting I marathoned through all of Moonlight with her, and was also reminded of what a fantastic show that was, and what an adorable adn awesome pair Mick/Beth were.  It still makes me feel depressed every time I think of the wasted potential there, thanks to stupid CBS....

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2008. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

I got this idea from [ profile] vltavska seemed nifty, so I tried it out, though unfortunately I´m missing 3 months because I didn´t post in them--I was very sporadic at first, and too busy squeeing over the new Artemis Fowl book (grr, still need to post my review here for that!) and preparing for BD to write anything in July I here goes!  For ones where the first line doesn´t make sense unless you see the title, I posted that as well in brackets...with my comments from now as well.

This was an interesting exercise, hopefully next year I´ll be able to do it for every month!

Tudors, Moonlight, Kushiel´s Mercy, Artemis Fowl, Breaking Dawn, and Gossip Girl ahoy! )

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
Don't say we didn't tell you so Nina Tassler!  ;)

All I can say is HA!  :p  We KNEW this show would bomb and get much lower ratings than Moonlight did from the pathetic premise (seriously, I'd rather watch a hot vampire over a desperate woman any day!), and so it did!  Though I never imagined it would actually get cancelled within a month.....Way to squander solid ratings for nothing, CBS! *eyeroll*

So yeah, definitely feeling a little smug and vindicated right now about this, though at the same time I do feel sorry for the fans, who have been dealt an even greater blow than we got with this cancellation.  It just goes to show how much CBS sucks once again--both in not giving shows a chance, and in hurting their potential by putting so many stupid restraints on them.  It really is not worth watching CBS, or especially not any new show, since it's bound to be cancelled soon anyway.  With this news, I feel even more firm in my boycott of CBS than ever before.....

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))

What a fantastic finale!!!  My spoilerific review....

Also at 5 pm PST at least CW and Silver (ML Producer) were still negotiating about a possible Moonlight pickup, so focus there, though Sci-Fi and USA are still potential bets you shouldn't forget yet either! There's still hope guys, keep on fighting!

If it doesn't though....DAMN YOU CBS!!! *shakes fist* It's too good to go....

And with the end of Moonlight there, this was the last time I will be watching CBS--here are my parting words, ironically the lyrics of the song used in the final ML promos, but which are extremely appropriate:

"No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this [network]....
And we won't come back...
We'll leave the past in the past,
Gonna find the future.
If misery loves [your] company well,
So long, you'll miss me when I'm gone."

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
I can't believe it--how can CBS do this?!?!?! Why?!  All the experts and people involved were so positive about Moonlight's chances, it's such a shock to see it dropped like this all of a sudden, and to hear (even worse!) that WB has already ordered the sets to be torn down!  Hold on a second there guys!  :(  I just feel so sick and depressed about it all....

However it seems that there still may be a glimmer of hope.....there are rumors that the CW might pick it up for it's Sunday night slot (it IS a WB production!  Why not?), or who knows, maybe if enough people bug CBS they might change their if you love Moonlight (or even if you don't but want to be nice and help us out!), please do one of the following:

1. Call

According to the CBS switchboard operator:

Here are some other numbers I've seen as well--try them out as well!

(212) 975-3247

Remember to be respectful, professional, and postive!

2.  Sign the petition--usually they aren't so effective, but if it's on top of everything else....why not, it only takes two seconds?

3. E-mail the following people involved pleading them not to cancel Moonlight and to show your love for the show:

President and CEO, Les Moonves:
President, CBS, Nina Tassler: (updated)
Senior Executive VP of Programming, CBS Network, Kelly Kahl: (updated)
President, CBS Paramount Network TV, David Stapf

4. Submit feedback at the site (begging them not to cancel) and at the WB site, begging them to consider keeping the show for a different network and to stop destroying the sets!

5. Stream as many episodes from the website as you can, even if you're not watching but doing something else--you can have it playhing in the background!--and buy as many episodes on iTunes as you can afford/desire, to show it's popularity!

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
If they cancel Moonlight!  I can't believe the show is in that much trouble and so close to cancellation--everyone has been so optimistic and positive these last few weeks, and the ratings have remained decent, especially for Friday nights (hello, not a popular night!) among the coveted 18-49 demographic.....I've almost been lulled into a sense of security with all the positive news, and this is quite a nasty and unwelcome shock! If they don't renew Moonlight.....I don't know what I'll do!  Even 13 episodes (the only hope it seems) is too few, and midseason is so far away.....stupid producers and money issues!  >:(

I can't believe they would even think of "retooling" it either--what the hell, these last few episodes have been INCREDIBLE--some of the best yet! They're on such a roll, clearly the fill-in showrunners are more than up to the task! I don't want Moonlight to go in a new direction from the awesome one it's already also pisses me off that they're getting pilots for new, more expensive shows, and then are thinking of ditching a less expensive popular (coveted demo-winning) show over MONEY issues!  I'm just disgusted.....if they cancel Moonlight, I couldn't care less about the network--it's the only CBS show I watch....

Why, why why?! *pulls hair out and screams* This show is just too f*cking good to go, and it's not like it doesn't have a devoted fanbase!  (Do the People's Choice Awards mean NOTHING to you people?!)  This is just ridiculous....CBS sure doesn't know a good thing when it has it!

*sigh* At least I'll have Bones and Gossip Girl (confirmed today!) next year.....but I'll be devastated to not have Moonlight as well!  :(
