Guys I think someone should go check on the temperature in Hell, because this season of Game of Thrones has actually been GOOD! O_o I'm still in a state of shock tbh; I really didn't think this show had it in them. Aside from a couple of random scenes in 5x04 and 5x05 respectively, the last 3 episodes straight have managed to hold my interest from beginning to end! I'm actually super eager to see the next episode! It's a miracle!

A few general thoughts about this season )

And now for some more specific thoughts on the last 3 episodes:

GoT 5x03:

I wish we had some wine for you, it's a bit early in the day for us. )

GoT 5x04:

You are the Princess Shireen of House Baratheon. And you are my daughter. )

GoT 5x05:

Kill the boy, and let the man be born. )

Also I'm happy that we've finally reached episodes that nobody has watched yet in advance! \o/ Fandom and Tumblr are no longer dark and full of spoilers...I was finally able to search for Theon gifs without worrying. ;) Like this adorable one of (I quote) "Theon and Jeyne Poole doing a SQUID DANCE OF DEFIANT RESILIENCE." :p Bless.

x

I know I have a ton of season finale reviews to catch up on (including Vikings!!), but I think this post is long enough...I'm sorry that I have been so absent the last few weeks, I've felt like I've had no time to internet lately...:s I will try to catch up on posts and comments soon.

sherrilina: (Theon Greyjoy (ASOIAF/GoT))
Well last week was sure one of highs and lows for ASOIAF fandom. On the bright side, GRRM released a Sansa chapter from TWOW!!! (And said he is trying for 2016!) On the other hand, the spoilers that have come out from the screeners of the first four epps of s5 make it sound like the worst, grossest season yet...:/

Some quick thoughts on the Sansa chapter... )

I was especially happy to see a Sansa chapter out, since on the show they have inexplicably rushed to the end of Sansa's AFFC storyline already--it's good to know what Sansa is *actually* up to right now in the story, as opposed to D&D's horrible fanfiction. Let's talk about that fan fiction for a moment:

Spoilers for GoT 5x01-5x04 )

On a lighter GoT note, did you guys see this funny Seth Meyers Brings Jon Snow to a Dinner Party video? ;)

+ Also, an episode of Vikings happened--my thoughts on 3x07:

He is my ally, not my friend. I don't have any friends. It's better that way. )

+ Also, can we talk about The Americans for a moment?!

OMG PAIGE KNOWS NOW AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I did NOT expect her to find out so soon--normally that is like season finale shit, but nope, not on this show! <333 THAT WHOLE REVEAL SCENE WAS SO AMAZING! THEIR FACES, PHILLIP'S LITTLE NOD, THE WAY ELIZABETH WAS SO TOTALLY AT LOST FOR WORDS AND PHILLIP ENDED UP BEING THE FIRST TO BREAK THE NEWS DESPITE HIS RESERVATIONS!!! SO perfectly done, I had to rewatch it a few times..."we were born in another country", I CAN'T! And Paige's reactions, asking them to speak Russian, and this week what their real names were...I really can't wait to see where that all goes! I was terrified during the scene where she calls her pastor (who continues to be super creepy btw) and they are all anxious at work...this show sure knows how to pile on the tension and put you on the edge of your seat! I think they are lucky actually that the Centre had ordered them to recruit Paige, or they might have been in real trouble otherwise for telling her the truth...

Also omg Martha, YOU IN DANGER GURL! D: I must give her props for being such a good liar under all that pressure, but I am worried she still gave herself away...I want to hear what Walter Taffet says to Gaad! I also was bummed we didn't get to hear Phillip's plan for how Elizabeth can see her mother. These episodes always end far too son! I can't believe we are only two away now from the finale...thank god we know there will be a season 4 now.

Oh and how about that reveal about the defector?! I loved how it was done, with Arkady actually noting it could have been the KGB ordering that attempt because of how compartmentalized everything was...I hate for Stan to be right about anything, but it was still cool! And now Oleg is in on the Mail Robot scheme too, which is neat...the conversation about what had been overheard was hilarious. More Rezidentura scenes, please.

+ Finally, Outlander returned this week at last...

Spoilers for 1x09 )

Too much TV going on right now!

sherrilina: (Athelstan/Ragnar (Vikings))
I never got around to posting my thoughts on the rest of Vikings season 2, and here we are already halfway through season 3! Since this is the show I am feeling the most fannish about by far (and since I fear what will happen in tonight's episode), I wanted to catch up now:

Vikings 2x03-2x10:

In the gentle fall of rain from Heaven I hear my God. But in the thunder I still hear Thor. That is my agony. )

Since finishing season 2, I also found these hilarious visual recaps by The Mary Sue (which is where I got the earlier macros I posted). I highly recommend them, even if you haven't seen the show yet and want to see why it is awesome. ;)

3x01:

We will go together to Wessex and you will be my John...the Baptist, yes. Wherever you go, I will follow. )

3.02:

I love Odin. And I love Jesus Christ. What else can I say? )

3.03

Now who among you would not choose to turf a few farmers off our land to gain through this alliance the greater part of England? )

3.04

I will go back with Ragnar. All my future lies with Ragnar. )

I am so nervous about tonight's episode I can't even...:/ I've been anxious all day.

In other related news, one reason that I haven't managed to post earlier is that once again, I accidentally got sucked into Fandom March Madness, oop. I did way too much campaigning this year, even as fewer participate. I just couldn't help myself, I love celebrating my faves. I was excited that Vikings actually made it into the bracket this year (I had been planning that campaign for ages), although sadly Lagertha was paired against Poussey from OITNB, so she was doomed to be knocked out in the first round. :/ Maybe next year. (At least I got to campaign a little for Athelstan and King Ecbert in prelims! I was happy to see Athelstan take clear second place...). My bracket this year was a mess and is best not discussed. :p

sherrilina: (Cesare/Lucrezia "My Love" (The Borgias))
On this tragic date last year, the series finale of The Borgias was released on Showtime's videoplayer. ;_; I can't believe it's already been a year since we had the last new material from The Borgias (Jordan's awful fanfiction doesn't count), and the fandom came to a close. Watching GoT especially makes me miss this superior show.

In any case, I still haven't formally posted my reactions/thoughts on the last two episodes of the show, so I think I will mark this anniversary with those:

3x09:

You know where the scandal is. )

3x10:

AND MINE. )

Let us all have a moment of silence in memory of this wonderful show, RIP. Also let's start a prayer circle that François will get another project and return to our screens soon. I think I might need to do a full rewatch soon, since it's all on Netflix streaming now. Fittingly enough, I am in the middle of finally reading Christopher Hibbert's The Borgias and Their Enemies: 1431-1519 at this time, which is also making me miss the show. Like I just read past the part where it discusses how Cardinal Sassypants Sforza made an alliance with Rodrigo in exchange for the position of Vice Chancellor. How I wish I had his sass and epic expressions still in my life. I'm also feeling nostalgic about [livejournal.com profile] cesare_lucrezia, so here is my first post there, a discussion about when people started shipping C/L and if anyone thought they would actually ~go there. Pretty funny reading in retrospect, knowing that they did indeed do so! ;)

+ Speaking of GoT, there's not really much to say about 4x09 except that it was even more fucking boring than I expected...

We should have stayed in that cave. )

RME too at what HBO submitted to the Emmys for GoT, particularly in terms of the actors nominated--Kit and Nikolaj but no Alfie, who was frankly the only actor who deserved any recognition? I sincerely hope they don't get any nods outside technical ones, that is all they deserve, and that they have ever deserved (but especially now after such a flop season). Whereas The Borgias deserved more. The nomination for prosthetics next epp though excites me--it must be LS, surely?!

sherrilina: (Cesare/Lucrezia 3 (The Borgias))
GUYS GUYS GUYS APPARENTLY SHOWTIME FINALLY GOT THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND MADE THEIR OWN VERSION OF HBOGO--WHICH ALLOWED ME TO WATCH 3X03 EARLY!!! :DDDD And when I have time, 3x01 and all of season 2 are available to rewatch, along with all the other Showtime shows, which is awesome. So I take back my bitterness in my last post at OnDemand getting it early, though I'm still a little annoyed at recent episodes getting leaked even earlier than that official early release--I sincerely hope that 3x04 is the last time, since that was part of the screener.

But yeah, so excited! I legit screamed and began flailing wildly when I discovered this, you should have seen me. For that matter you should have seen me when I watched 3x03 last Monday night (I am super slow at these reviews, sorry), but first here are my thoughts on 3x02:

You look, but don't touch... )

3x03 (warning: extensive shipper squee and Tumblr gif usage):

I will make you happy. I promise. )

+ Game of Thrones was also great this past week! 3x04:

My real father lost his head at King's Landing. I made a choice...and I chose wrong. )

Gah I can barely even keep up with all the epic TV going on right now, let alone reviews. (Also my laptop is on its last legs in terms of slowness, so having to type out 90% of my reviews on my smartphone slows things down on that end as well).

sherrilina: (Lucrezia/Cesare (The Borgias))
I feel like this year many of my shows have been a tad lackluster, so I'm so glad to finally have The Borgias and Game of Thrones back to be excited about each week! \o/ And DW is back too with a new companion at last, which is also interesting, though I think I will save my review of that for another post.

Let's start with my thoughts on my favorite show, The Borgias, whose rollercoaster ride of a season premiere this past Sunday was the best of ANY of my shows all year (spoilers for 3x01):

His soul does not depart until I give it leave! )

+ Before I talk about the first three episodes of s3 GoT, I realize I never laid down my thoughts of season 2:

There are times when I look at you, and I still can’t believe you’re real. )

It's interesting watching season 3 now that I am ~newly empowered~ with book!knowledge. (It's also way more enjoyable in fandom being able to discuss and explore at will without worrying about being spoiled!) While there have been awful or boring bits in each episode, I have still been enjoying the season on the whole so far, and look forward to it each week (even better now that I have a GoT-TB double feature!). My thoughts on the first 3 epp of the new GoT season:

3x01

I want what is mine by right... )

3x02:

He's a monster )

3x03:

Yes, all men must die. But we are not men. )

Anyway, what did you all think? Which episode of s3 GoT have you guys enjoyed the most so far?

Oh and I am still interested in receiving characters for the character meme I posted here if anyone wants to give me one! ;)

sherrilina: (Gaius/Six (Battlestar Galactica))
This past Sunday night/early Monday morning I finished watching BSG for the first time, almost two weeks after I began it! I am still filled with many thoughts and feels right now that I need to express. I'm glad I finished during a 3-day weekend so that I had time to finish watching and then have a day after to ~process~ it all, and explore fandom a bit...(all images from Tumblr):

You know, I know about farming... )

Anyway, so while it wasn't perfect I still love this show overall and think it's one of the best I've ever seen, if not the best. ♥ NGL I want to watch it all over again already, and have begun the miniseries. I had already rewatched a number of Gaius and Six scenes, particularly pertaining to Hera, before I finished the end of s4. I wish I could show it to a new viewer...I also am going to at least give Caprica a chance, even though I hear it's not great.

+In other TV news, I seem to be unable to get out of "marathoning" mode so I've begun watching Revenge--which is also really good and addictive and tragic, though in a somewhat different way...

sherrilina: (Boo You Whore Luci (SN))
Man, this seems to be "Characters Making Annoying Questionable Decision" Week on my TV Shows, it applies to all of them! :/ Though still a few good episodes besides that.

Let's start with SN, which I only watched last night, since I was busy marathoning s6 with [livejournal.com profile] paradisekendra on Friday, lol...(good times, and I like the DVD case art, the back of the plastic part has a promo of the OT3...;_;):

For all we know he's road-tripping with Lucifer somewhere! )

Also a few additional thoughts and ~feelings~ on Cas and his prospects, especially after the Gamble interviews last weeks...O_o

Some spoilers for the final Animorphs book if you care )

I've been really enjoying Vampire Diaries so far this season, but I see some of the same ~issues as last season are already cropping up....:/

There's going to be nine other people that brought chili )

I also broke down and watched the premiere of Merlin s4 at least....

His heart is broken, and his spirit is gone )

And then there was much worse writing fail and even more annoying questionable decisions in the Doctor Who finale last weekend (Happy DW Day, btw!), but I won't even go into that here because this post is long enough as it is....

Oh and with GG this week Dan/Blair were of course flawless as always, and really the only thing of interest left on this show, they just need to get together already, and I wish Chuck would crawl off and die in a hole with nobody caring about him. *sigh*

sherrilina: (Cas Cannot Die (Supernatural))
So not quite as awesome as last week, IMO, and not what I was expecting, but still pretty solid and intense, season 7 continues on a high note! :)

I'm your flesh and blood, brother. Okay? I'm the only one who can legitimately kick your ass in real time. You got away. We got you out, Sammy... )

Also once again nerded out today in honor of SN by wearing my ~stylish trenchcoat in the evening for Cas (luckily the weather cooperated with my nerdy impulses by being cool enough to need a coat!), and eating a cheeseburger a la Dean...:p

I know I'm a bit late to the game (this weekend was really busy with the National Book Festival going on Sat/Sun--more on that later), but I have to take a moment to talk about how effing AMAZING that Supernatural s7 premiere was, and how much it fulfilled almost all my dreams and more....<3__<3

I still think you're one of us )

I need to rewatch this episode again, as well as catch up on TVD, DW, and Downton Abbey, since I missed all of those....the last week of Hellatus this past week was really hellishly busy, as I'll explain in another post later, but the short of it is that I got really behind on comments and posts, but I am trying to catch up!

I only had the chance to watch the finale(s) a few hours ago, earlier tonight with dinner, and luckily I managed to remain unspoiled before watching (I was super extra paranoid and didn't even open any notification emails of posts from those of you who I know watched SN to be on the safe side, let alone go anywhere else fandomy online).  My thoughts:

Major Spoilers for 6x21 and 6x22 )

With this finale, I only have The Borgias finale (tomorrow night, woot) and the rest of DW until its mid-season finale (incl. today's epp...does anyone know where they are breaking it up, btw?  6x06 or 6x07?) to watch in the near future (since I'm giving up on Camelot and Bones until August when I have time...although Bones I almost wish I was caught up and could watch, I've already unfortunately been spoiled on some plot points and am going to try to somehow stay unspoiled on the rest until then...O_o).  It's probably just as well hiatus is coming, since I now don't really have legit time to watch so much TV at this point....

sherrilina: (Adrian/Rose (Vampire Academy))
This past week had several important and noteworthy book-related events for me, namely 1) finishing Mockingjay at last, and then 2) finally seeing some exciting news about the plots and release dates of the final book in the Georgina Kincaid series (one of my all-time faves) AND about the forthcoming VA spinoff series (which I've been dying to know about since finishing The Last Sacrifice last December)!

First, let's talk about the Richelle Mead-related stuff, beginning with the VA spinoff news...(which I took the liberty of finally getting myself an Adrian/Rose icon for, since I now have the space and a D/R icon just isn't appropriate for this post! ;)):

Spoilers for new series and VA #6: The Last Sacrifice )

And then, after squeeing about having that summer blockbuster book to look forward to, I suddenly notice that the final Georgina Kincaid novel, apparently called Succubus Revealed, is coming out exactly one week later on August 30!!! (Or who knows, maybe it will come out earlier than that, with this series they often do show up early in bookstores). \o/ <333 I can't even...it's going to sure be a summer (or rather, month?) of Richelle Mead! :p I kind of wish that these two big summer releases were spaced out a little further apart in the summer, but on the other hand I'm going to have more free time in August than earlier to read them, so maybe it's just as well...I'll have to read the first one pretty fast to make sure I'm done in time for the GK novel! ;)

The book description for the GK book is also now on the website and quite interesting...

Cover and Description for GK#6, spoilers for #5 )

Also I must as always take a moment to pimp both of these series, but especially the Georgina Kincaid series, starting with Succubus Blues, (since fewer people I know read it, lol), to anyone who loves supernatural/urban paranormal stuff...they are SO entertaining and funny/witty (the best of Secret Diary of a Call Girl or Buffy, what have you in terms of biting wit), but also have a fascinating supernatural verse and memorable cast of characters (which for instance an OCD Martha Stewart-wannabe vampire and an Archdemon boss who is a secret John Cusack fan and drinking buddies with the area's Archangel that he used to know before he fell from grace and became a demon and all--such a cute bromance, lol), and some really compelling drama and well-written romance all at the same time. I don't know if I've ever enjoyed a book series as much as I've enjoyed reading many of the books in this one.

And then there's Mockingjay...O_o  Big Spoilers Ahoy!

You love me. Real or not real? )

I remember reading a F!S a while back (when I still read them, lol) that claimed THG was just like Animorphs--which is a ridiculous claim, but I admit that with this comparison on the mind as I finished this book, I did see several parallels between both series in terms of events, themes, moral quandaries, gritty realism, etc--all of which just show why both series are memorable and a cut above the average YA series:

Brief meta about The Hunger Games and Animorphs, MAJOR spoilers for Mockingjay and The Beginning (#54)!  )

Speaking of The Hunger Games, while I was going to reserve judgment on the movie even with the questionable actors cast in the male roles (I only know JH from playing the evil douchey Steve in the Cirque du Freak movie, hard to imagine Peeta from that role, lol), the new spoilers about the script and what has been changed are making me begin to actually think this movie will be terrible, the script sounds in parts like a badly written fanfic...:/  Anyone else see them?

And lol, since beginning this post I now see that the next Sookie Stackhouse novel is also coming out soon at the beginning of May and has a description out?  O_o  Just book news galore this week...

sherrilina: (Mitchell/Annie: Love of my life (BH))
I can't believe it's already been over two weeks since the Being Human season 3 finale....what a first week it was for me too! O_o  I don't think a finale has ever destroyed, upset, confused, and angered me as much as this one did (my first thought after it finished airing was "I HATE THIS SHOW!!!" ;_;), and it's probably good that I had a few weeks to mull it over and rewatch it and discuss it thoroughly across fandom before recording my thoughts here (although I did start this post a week after it aired, even if I'm only finishing it now).  As much emotional turmoil as the finale caused me, it also heightened my obsession with the show (and Mitchell/Annie)--much of the first post-finale week I was basically eating, sleeping (or rather, not sleeping but staying up too late watching YT videos or whatnot...:/), and breathing BH, lol.  Rewatching old random  epps from all seasons along with a gazillion Mitchell/Annie vids on YT (lol), Tumbling BH and M/A-related posts like no tomorrow, discussing and debating, finally creating a M/A iPod playlist and planning out a M/A fanmix and thinking up a bunch of M/A vid ideas (assuming I can ever get some working software again), icon-hunting (finally replaced the last default M/A icon with one I liked better and got myself this new second one)...I even finally watched the original BH Pilot for the first time and caught up on the US BH!  In short, the first week or so immediately after the finale this show and the Mitchell/Annie ship were completely eating my brain and owning my soul respectively...;)

Anyway, here are my thoughts, which have been somewhat tempered since my initial reactions, but I still stand firm on certain issues (MAJOR 3x08 spoilers, obviously!):

You were the love of my long life... )

Phew, good to finally get that done and out of the way, lol...hopefully tomorrow now I will be posting about my new obsession filling the hole in my life that BH left behind! ;)

I've been meaning to update about the past few episodes, and I figure I better do it before tonight....God I am so nervous and scared for tonight, I can't even....O_o  I think I'm even more anxious than I was for the season 5 SN finale, since we a) don't know for sure if this is the last epp or not (even though it probably isn't) and b) Aidan Turner having to film "The Hobbit" means he potentially couldn't be on the show if they didn't delay things for him, unlike in the case of Misha with the SN finale.  In any case, I am going to be on pins and needles until I watch the epp (which may not be tonight, though I will probably end up dling it anyway and then hating myself tomorrow morning when I'm all sleep deprived), although I am also really looking forward to it at the same time, because I am desperate to see how everything gets resolved and explained, and it just looks completely epic and amazing!  (And one non-spoilery review basically said just that, and that it would make the Internets explode!).

Thoughts on 3x04-3x05:

You and me...it’s for eternity. Really forever. )

And now for my 3x07 thoughts and fears...

I'd tear the world apart... )

I've also been watching a lot of Mitchell/Annie vids since seeing 3x07 and thinking about them and you know, I don't care what has happened, or what will happen, these two still own my soul---they are epic and wonderful and would still make an excellent couple if they can survive this and I will still cling to my last shreds of hope....<3333  (And I will still make my Mitchell/Annie vid sometime, but it will probably seem more bittersweet now...:/ )
