sherrilina: (Cesare/Lucrezia: Team BAMF (The Borgias))
Showtime just canceled The Borgias, fuck everything! >:( I'm just so devastated and depressed and angry right now, I can't even. ;_; Please hold me.

The Borgias is one of the best shows on TV with some of the most consistent quality, and it's just not fair it couldn't get its last season or even a wrap-up movie to finish the storyline, when so many lesser shows meanwhile keep getting renewed and stay on the air forever. It's not fair that The Tudors got 4 seasons when it wasn't as good throughout (and I did love that show too). And so many people were just getting into the show too, and it was finally gaining traction on ONTD! :( I thought having a movie instead of a full season would be bad, but knowing that there are only two more episodes is so much worse. It's too soon! Why couldn't they have announced this earlier, so we were better prepared if it was going to happen anyway? Although I was fearing the worst...I was going to post a prayer circle for the show tonight, but guess that's not needed now! :/ I am glad they said it before the finale, so that we know going in...and I guess it's lucky that since it's history we know what will happen to the characters without the show continuing.

BUT this is my favorite show and my main fandom, and idek what I'm going to do right now. I seriously wish I could trade in the renewals for my other on-the-bubble shows for this one, the only one that really ultimately mattered to me--those pleasant surprises now just taste bitter to me. I'm also annoyed and sad that this last season of fandom was ruined by the early release system and that asshole who kept leaking things so early (especially when they leaked 3x08 and 3x09 at the same time, what the fuck was that? We should have known it was the end I guess), throwing off discussion and pulling fandom apart, making it impossible to enjoy Tumblr and stuff at the same time because of all the spoilers. I felt I wasn't able to have as full a fandom experience as the last two seasons through no fault of the people in fandom, but the distribution, and just ugh. I wish we could all watch the episodes together, like previous help me, if they leak 3x10 early...>:(

But whatever, it was fun while it lasted, I guess. I will always have fond memories of the fandom and the good friends I made in it. <33 I will always love endlessly staring at the beautiful gifs of Cesare and Lucrezia being tender and sexy together, and I think they will remain one of my top OTPs of all time--I'm glad they at least became canon before the end. I will always remember creating and running a comm for the first (and probably last) time in my life--I think a large part of my sadness is at the thought of [ profile] cesare_lucrezia's inevitable death now that the shown is over, even though it was slowing down a bit because of the LJ exodus anyway. Thanks to my lovely co-creator and mod [ profile] lucyskyx--I'm glad our idea worked out for a while (and that we managed to become the primary C/L LJ comm, muahaha--there was some Borgias-worthy competition at the beginning! ;)). And thanks to everyone who participated there and helped make it a community, and who discussed The Borgias with me here/put up with all my ramblings!

I was going to post tonight about the last few GoT epps but whatever, forget the Red Wedding, this is waaay more traumatic. Not that I ever felt devastated by it anyway, between spoilers and it being too built up in fandom to live up to expectations . In short, if anyone has any happy or funny gifs or something rn though, please share. :( I haven't been this upset over an early cancelation since Moonlight. Now I feel almost too sad to watch 3x09, which I had been planning to do tonight.

This meme has recently been going around some parts of my flist, and dedicated/hopeless shipper that I am, obviously I couldn't resist! ;)  Just vote in the poll for the ships of mine that you also like.  Since I have a ridiculous number of things I ship I tried to limit this list to pairings I feel/felt more passionate/strongly about, though the list still ended up being way too long, lol.[Poll #1673927]

sherrilina: (Topher/Claire (Dollhouse))
So I've been meaning to post here for a while since I finally caught up with season 2 about what an INCREDIBLE and AWESOME Joss Whedon's newest show Dollhouse is--seriously, if you have not seen it yet, please try to watch it (it's sadly not going to be airing during November, so you have a month to watch only 17 episodes, if you want to watch from the beginning!), it is such a great, interesting, thought-provoking show (definitely more so than any other show I am watching so far--it's of the "makes you think about morality and philosophy and identity and other deep questions" variety), and right now it is in great danger of being canceled because of low ratings--in part because of it's Friday night death slot (apparently only on CBS does 5 million+ every Friday night get you canceled! *still bitter about Moonlight too*) and Fox's refusal to properly promote it, and its lame pairing with two comedies before it, and in part perhaps because it is kind of a difficult show for some to watch. If you do give it a try, and don't like it at first, please make sure to at least watch 1x06 before giving up....some of the early episodes are a little shaky!

I already have a ship (of course, lol) and some favorite characters: Spoilers up through 2x04 )

General discussion about viewing Dollhouse, Merlin, Gossip Girl, Bones, and Supernatural, cut for length )

TL;DR: I am now quite obsessed with Dollhouse and Supernatural, and am putting Merlin and Bones on pause for now until the Christmas holidays or summer....

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
[Error: unknown template qotd] Yes, in fact I am still participating in a boycott against CBS ever since they declared my business and viewership to be unwelcome by canceling the only show I watched on CBS, Moonlight, back in May of 2008. CBS has never interested me much in the way of shows, but then a show finally came along that did interest me, very much, and which got decent ratings and had a good, devoted fan base of just the demographic they were aiming for (rocking the 18-49 category, women, etc).....only for them to go an cancel it, despite all of this and our valiant efforts. I actually did call and email and mail them many times, and did mention that this was the only show I watched on CBS, and if they got rid of it, then I would go as well (since their network would no longer hold any interest for me)--and I've kept my word.

So yeah, I continue to boycott CBS--if it's even on in a room, I will leave the room until the channel is changed. They didn't want my business, and I will oblige them. To quote once more the song that they themselves played in the promos for the final two episodes of Moonlight, and which fits the situation well:

No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this town.
And we won't come back your world is calling out.
We'll leave the past in the past,
Gonna find the future.
If misery loves company well,
So long, you'll miss me when I'm gone.

Won't look back,
When I say goodbye.

Meme snagged from [ profile] opheliahyde :

List the first ten TV series that come to mind. Your friends will comment with the character from each series that they think you  like most.

1. True Blood
2.  Merlin
3. Moonlight
4. Angel
5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
6. Gossip Girl
7. Veronica Mars
8. The Tudors
9. Being Human
10. Bones

Several of these shows would be pretty easy to guess, I'd think....

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
[Error: unknown template qotd]Oh TV couples--one of my favorite topics, and definitely a question that I remember coming up here before in these WB things....well of the three couples listed in the question, my favorite it definitely Chuck/Blair (the only one I have seen also, to be fair), though they are not my overall favorite TV couple (especially given all the crap the writers pull out at times).  I think I'll still stand by my previous answer, and say that Cordy/Angel from Angel is my all-time favorite TV couple, but there are a LOT of contenders.  For instance there's Arthur/Morgana from Merlin, the "duo" that I'm currently celebrating in my banner and default icon, Lily/Rufus (also from Gossip Girl), Booth/Brennan from Bones (in their best moments, I haven't been so happy with what the writers have been doing with them at times), and Mick/Beth from Moonlight (icon), whose greatness as a couple I have recently fully remembered thanks to my ML marathon last weekend--these two in particular are just so well-matched, and their interactions are two adorable and filled with chemistry.  I'm SO glad that the writers played it safe and gave them a happy ending in the season finale so that when it turned into the series finale thanks to CBS's immense suckage and idiocy the series ended on a good note (I would have wanted to kill the writers if they had ended things badly between M/B!)
sherrilina: (Eric (True Blood))
And so yet another obsession has struck--the HBO series True Blood and the Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse novels that spawned it! I have to say, I was originally not very impressed with the TV show when I watched the first couple of episodes last fall, but I decided to give the show another chance, and I'm very glad I did!  I have now marathoned up to the present and am watching it from week to week (SO disappointed there was no new episode this week!), and the days cannot go by fast enough until the next episode for's so fun to be excited about a new show.  To get more faster, and to see more of Eric (of whom I have heard so much, and who I already love just from the show!) I began reading the books, which are also great (once you get a few chapters into the first book at least--I had a similar experience as when I watched the show as far as not being impressed at first and then loving it)--I've finally begun the second book, "Living Dead in Dallas" ("To Live and To Die in Dallas" in Spanish if anyone's curious--I remember seeing a copy in the bookstore when I was there), aka season 2 of TB, though the show has indeed been deviating a lot from this book even more so than the last book--but mostly in a good way IMO!

So in short I now love True Blood, and Eric, and can tell already that I will be shipping Eric/Sookie! ;)  I'm happy that he'll be in every episode of season 2....

This new craze has reawakened my love for vampires as well--this past weekend when a friend was visiting I marathoned through all of Moonlight with her, and was also reminded of what a fantastic show that was, and what an adorable adn awesome pair Mick/Beth were.  It still makes me feel depressed every time I think of the wasted potential there, thanks to stupid CBS....

Fandom Meme

sherrilina: (Morgana (Merlin))
Saw this meme on the LJ of [ profile] sparkling_gold and couldn't resist snagging....though I feel like most of these fandoms will be so obvious that it's not really a matter of guessing--as obsessed a shipper as I am, I'm not really one to keep quiet about which ships I love! ;) Though I suppose that the challenge is guessing the second favorite ship--for some of these I hardly know the answer myself! :p

1. List 15-20 of you favorite old and new fandoms.
2. Have your friends guess your favorite two ships from each fandom. (Note: for me the second fave can involve a person from the first fave!) (Note II: I realized that there are some fandoms for which I really only like one ship, so for those you only have to guess one!)
3. Strike out the fandom when someone guesses correctly and put the name of the first person to get it right.

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2008. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

I got this idea from [ profile] vltavska seemed nifty, so I tried it out, though unfortunately I´m missing 3 months because I didn´t post in them--I was very sporadic at first, and too busy squeeing over the new Artemis Fowl book (grr, still need to post my review here for that!) and preparing for BD to write anything in July I here goes!  For ones where the first line doesn´t make sense unless you see the title, I posted that as well in brackets...with my comments from now as well.

This was an interesting exercise, hopefully next year I´ll be able to do it for every month!

Tudors, Moonlight, Kushiel´s Mercy, Artemis Fowl, Breaking Dawn, and Gossip Girl ahoy! )

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
Don't say we didn't tell you so Nina Tassler!  ;)

All I can say is HA!  :p  We KNEW this show would bomb and get much lower ratings than Moonlight did from the pathetic premise (seriously, I'd rather watch a hot vampire over a desperate woman any day!), and so it did!  Though I never imagined it would actually get cancelled within a month.....Way to squander solid ratings for nothing, CBS! *eyeroll*

So yeah, definitely feeling a little smug and vindicated right now about this, though at the same time I do feel sorry for the fans, who have been dealt an even greater blow than we got with this cancellation.  It just goes to show how much CBS sucks once again--both in not giving shows a chance, and in hurting their potential by putting so many stupid restraints on them.  It really is not worth watching CBS, or especially not any new show, since it's bound to be cancelled soon anyway.  With this news, I feel even more firm in my boycott of CBS than ever before.....

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))

What a fantastic finale!!!  My spoilerific review....

Also at 5 pm PST at least CW and Silver (ML Producer) were still negotiating about a possible Moonlight pickup, so focus there, though Sci-Fi and USA are still potential bets you shouldn't forget yet either! There's still hope guys, keep on fighting!

If it doesn't though....DAMN YOU CBS!!! *shakes fist* It's too good to go....

And with the end of Moonlight there, this was the last time I will be watching CBS--here are my parting words, ironically the lyrics of the song used in the final ML promos, but which are extremely appropriate:

"No, we're not gonna waste another moment in this [network]....
And we won't come back...
We'll leave the past in the past,
Gonna find the future.
If misery loves [your] company well,
So long, you'll miss me when I'm gone."

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))

Okay guys, as we count down to the final episode (on CBS that is--let's hope not period!), here are a few things to do:

1)  WATCH "SONATA" LIVE @ 9/8 PM CENTRAL ON CBS!!!!  And if you know ANYONE with TiVO, please ask them to record it and play it back that evening, even if they don't watch it (they can go out/do something else!), so we can record all the ratings possible!

2) BUY "FATED TO PRETEND" (1x13) ON ITUNES TODAY (FRIDAY 1/16)!!!! It's only $2, and it's a good way to show your support/our collective power these days.....let's get high ratings on iTunes as well as on TV this last epp!  We're trying to do this as a mass-purchase among fans, to try to vault Moonlight from #50 to in the top 5 shows purchased on iTunes--maybe even edge out Gossip Girl as the #1!  That will impress other networks thinking of picking up Moonlight....

3) CALL 818-655-1779 AND STATE YOUR AGE AND CITY/STATE BY 6 PM TODAY!!!! CBS is apparently trying to collect demographic info from Moonlight fans right now, which is a good sign I think.....maybe they're rethinking their decision or doing it for their affiliate the CW!

4) KEEP EMAILING AND CALLING CW, SCI-FI, AND USA!!!  These are the most likely candidates at the moment....Sci-Fi even supposedly said they were *very* interested!!!

Here's the info:

Phone: 212-664-4444
Fax: 212-703-8533
(call twice and ask for SciFi, then USA--same number)

CW: CW's Chief Operating Officer.
Phone: (818) 954-6000 (WB Operator--ask for the CW Network)
              (818) 977-6878 (Direct number for Viewer Comment Line)

Here's the link to the message board at the CW. People should register and make a post requesting that the CW pick up Moonlight. ... ost5159922

Don't give up hope yet!  "Vampire Solidarity, Rah Rah Rah!"

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
I can't believe it--how can CBS do this?!?!?! Why?!  All the experts and people involved were so positive about Moonlight's chances, it's such a shock to see it dropped like this all of a sudden, and to hear (even worse!) that WB has already ordered the sets to be torn down!  Hold on a second there guys!  :(  I just feel so sick and depressed about it all....

However it seems that there still may be a glimmer of hope.....there are rumors that the CW might pick it up for it's Sunday night slot (it IS a WB production!  Why not?), or who knows, maybe if enough people bug CBS they might change their if you love Moonlight (or even if you don't but want to be nice and help us out!), please do one of the following:

1. Call

According to the CBS switchboard operator:

Here are some other numbers I've seen as well--try them out as well!

(212) 975-3247

Remember to be respectful, professional, and postive!

2.  Sign the petition--usually they aren't so effective, but if it's on top of everything else....why not, it only takes two seconds?

3. E-mail the following people involved pleading them not to cancel Moonlight and to show your love for the show:

President and CEO, Les Moonves:
President, CBS, Nina Tassler: (updated)
Senior Executive VP of Programming, CBS Network, Kelly Kahl: (updated)
President, CBS Paramount Network TV, David Stapf

4. Submit feedback at the site (begging them not to cancel) and at the WB site, begging them to consider keeping the show for a different network and to stop destroying the sets!

5. Stream as many episodes from the website as you can, even if you're not watching but doing something else--you can have it playhing in the background!--and buy as many episodes on iTunes as you can afford/desire, to show it's popularity!

sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
If they cancel Moonlight!  I can't believe the show is in that much trouble and so close to cancellation--everyone has been so optimistic and positive these last few weeks, and the ratings have remained decent, especially for Friday nights (hello, not a popular night!) among the coveted 18-49 demographic.....I've almost been lulled into a sense of security with all the positive news, and this is quite a nasty and unwelcome shock! If they don't renew Moonlight.....I don't know what I'll do!  Even 13 episodes (the only hope it seems) is too few, and midseason is so far away.....stupid producers and money issues!  >:(

I can't believe they would even think of "retooling" it either--what the hell, these last few episodes have been INCREDIBLE--some of the best yet! They're on such a roll, clearly the fill-in showrunners are more than up to the task! I don't want Moonlight to go in a new direction from the awesome one it's already also pisses me off that they're getting pilots for new, more expensive shows, and then are thinking of ditching a less expensive popular (coveted demo-winning) show over MONEY issues!  I'm just disgusted.....if they cancel Moonlight, I couldn't care less about the network--it's the only CBS show I watch....

Why, why why?! *pulls hair out and screams* This show is just too f*cking good to go, and it's not like it doesn't have a devoted fanbase!  (Do the People's Choice Awards mean NOTHING to you people?!)  This is just ridiculous....CBS sure doesn't know a good thing when it has it!

*sigh* At least I'll have Bones and Gossip Girl (confirmed today!) next year.....but I'll be devastated to not have Moonlight as well!  :(
sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
Wow, just saw tonight's episode of Moonlight, and man was it f*cking incredible!  I didn't think they could really follow up last week's rollercoaster ride with anything nearly as good, but boy was I wrong!  I think I might have even liked this episode even more....just amazing!  Tons of humor, drama, Mick/Beth chemistry, a good mystery, and an ending leaving you dying for more--and the tantalizing promo for the last two epps doesn't help! (Though I really hope it isn't the last two epps.....they way they said it makes me nervous, this show is too damn good to be cancelled!)

Anyway, here's my review with spoilers....

You should put it up on your Facebook page.... )
I wish CBS would just renew it already......I mean, it won the People's Choice Awards for Best New Drama (which shows what a dedicated fanbase it has, either to have enough fans voting for it or enough hardcore fans voting for it enough times!), and has been doing quite well ratings wise given it's Friday night time--it's been dominating its slot, especially among the cherished 18-49 group--what more do you want?!

I think this probably wins as the best episode this week of my shows, though the Bones episode was quite top-notch as well, the best in a while!  They should definitely have cute things involved in every episode (like how about a poor kitten or puppy of a murder victim who needs taking care of?!  Like in last week's Moonlight, lol!), that baby was too freaking adorable!  Though the writing also made the epp, lots of wonderful lines (with my fave being Brennan's reaction to the baby toy--"Elephants aren't purple--this is all wrong!" and setting it aside), a good mystery, and lots of wonderful Booth/Brennan and Angela/Hodgins.....I love how Booth was envisioning himself in her theoretical mansion watching her TV! xD  They really are practically married, getting together will change NOTHING!

Gossip Girl this week was....not so great.  I mean, it was decent, but I was a little disappointed, and not so impressed by Michelle Trachtenberg's there were some major SAT inaccuracies that just irritated me too much to enjoy those scenes, sure ended with a cliffhanger though!  I hope next week is better, I sure want to find out Serena's secret/see some Chuck/Blair dammit! :p

My review/rant:
Nelly Yuki must be destroyed..... )
And happy Polish Constitution Day everyone! :D
sherrilina: (Mick/Beth (Moonlight))
Well last week Bones returned at long last, and now after shorter breaks (though still far too long!) Gossip Girl and Moonlight returned as well with fantastic episodes! The newest Moonlight episode was especially mind-blowing, it's unbelievable how much action they packed into that episode, especially after an initial somewhat slow start! Bones also returned with a better episode than last week IMO--I enjoyed it more at least, and was glad to finally see it at looong last! (Since it is a season 2 epp that was supposed to air last year).

I'm also dying to see next weeks' epp of all three shows--they all look equally wonderful, though certain relationship spoilers have made me especially eager to see the next GG--if only they hadn't moved it to freaking Monday nights at the same time as Bones! >:( Meaning I have to wait until the next day to find the new GG online....though I'm so busy next week I shouldn't have time to do so....:(

Anyway, my reviews/expectations for this week's three shows below, in three parts, though the GG one is more discussion than necessarily review....spoilers through the most recent epp of course, though in the GG one I will also be talking about relationship spoilers for future epps, because I couldn't resist them....but for once these spoilers made me happy rather than annoyed! ;)

I'm surprising you with my sneaky vampire abilities? )
Gossip Girl:
But your hair looks disgusting! )
And now for the second post-strike epp of Bones:
How did this boy get into college? )
sherrilina: (Booth/Brennan (Bones))
Well after a far too long absence, my favorite shows are FINALLY beginning to return with new episodes, beginning with my oldest show Bones, now in it's third season, and on it's (yet again) new day, Monday nights--I swear, by the time that show is done it will have played on every day of the week, they move it around so damn much! *rolleyes* But at least it's better than stupid Friday nights, as they originally threatened (for a third year in a row no less!).....*kills American IdiotIdol for the way it messes with Bones and other quality programming*

Some spoilers below (not too major for Bones, but for Moonlight and Gossip Girl) about the latest epps of each series, if you haven't seen them already (though I can't imagine why you wouldn't have with this looong strike to watch them in, lol), you've been warned!

Humans can't breathe underwater.... )
