sherrilina: (Arthur/Morgana Despair (Merlin))
With LJ's latest fail in Release 88, and Dreamwidth's open enrollment going on at the same time, I decided to finally go ahead and create a Dreamwidth account, just in case. (Man it's good to see the old look LJ used to have still being used here!)  We'll see how it goes...I wish LJ would seriously stop making these changes though, especially things like no subject lines that don't really help with anything positive...:/  So annoying.

Anyway, given the extremely similar formats, I guess I'll probably be cross-posting my future LJ entries here as well.  Might as well have a back-up somewhere...
sherrilina: (Boo You Whore Luci (SN))
Man, this seems to be "Characters Making Annoying Questionable Decision" Week on my TV Shows, it applies to all of them! :/ Though still a few good episodes besides that.

Let's start with SN, which I only watched last night, since I was busy marathoning s6 with [livejournal.com profile] paradisekendra on Friday, lol...(good times, and I like the DVD case art, the back of the plastic part has a promo of the OT3...;_;):

For all we know he's road-tripping with Lucifer somewhere! )

Also a few additional thoughts and ~feelings~ on Cas and his prospects, especially after the Gamble interviews last weeks...O_o

Some spoilers for the final Animorphs book if you care )

I've been really enjoying Vampire Diaries so far this season, but I see some of the same ~issues as last season are already cropping up....:/

There's going to be nine other people that brought chili )

I also broke down and watched the premiere of Merlin s4 at least....

His heart is broken, and his spirit is gone )

And then there was much worse writing fail and even more annoying questionable decisions in the Doctor Who finale last weekend (Happy DW Day, btw!), but I won't even go into that here because this post is long enough as it is....

Oh and with GG this week Dan/Blair were of course flawless as always, and really the only thing of interest left on this show, they just need to get together already, and I wish Chuck would crawl off and die in a hole with nobody caring about him. *sigh*

sherrilina: (Cas Cannot Die (Supernatural))
So not quite as awesome as last week, IMO, and not what I was expecting, but still pretty solid and intense, season 7 continues on a high note! :)

I'm your flesh and blood, brother. Okay? I'm the only one who can legitimately kick your ass in real time. You got away. We got you out, Sammy... )

Also once again nerded out today in honor of SN by wearing my ~stylish trenchcoat in the evening for Cas (luckily the weather cooperated with my nerdy impulses by being cool enough to need a coat!), and eating a cheeseburger a la Dean...:p

sherrilina: (SASSY (Supernatural))
I know I'm a bit late to the game (this weekend was really busy with the National Book Festival going on Sat/Sun--more on that later), but I have to take a moment to talk about how effing AMAZING that Supernatural s7 premiere was, and how much it fulfilled almost all my dreams and more....<3__<3

I still think you're one of us )

I need to rewatch this episode again, as well as catch up on TVD, DW, and Downton Abbey, since I missed all of those....the last week of Hellatus this past week was really hellishly busy, as I'll explain in another post later, but the short of it is that I got really behind on comments and posts, but I am trying to catch up!

sherrilina: (Topher/Claire (Dollhouse))
So there's this meme going around:

a) Reply with "Fuck yes fierce ladies (and awesome dudes, too)" and I'll give your four fandoms.

b)Write about your favourite character(s) for each fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] sunnytyler001 gave me "Doctor Who, The Borgias, SPN, and Dollhouse"!

By the end you are going to notice a pattern, I think...;) I have a type. All gifs from Tumblr, none of them mine...

Spoilers for Doctor Who, The Borgias, Supernatural, and Dollhouse )

I had hoped to post this earlier, but I got totally distracted by the epic win of the Supernatural season 6 gag reel...:p

sherrilina: (11/Rose (Doctor Who))
I managed to find a good livestream after all, so I got to watch the epp before any possible power loss, yay for that! \o/ On the other hand, the episode itself was pretty um, special...O_o

Give me someone I like... )

What did you all think?

EDIT: Sorry if the post looks messed up, IDK why LJ keeps fucking up the html by automatically clicking "disable auto-formatting" for you whenever you try to edit, I mean WTF, why do they even have that, who would ever want to use it and undermine all their hmtl?! >:(
sherrilina: (Sam 'n' Dean (Supernatural))
So ever since seeing these two promos for Supernatural and Merlin respectively, I thought it was funny how Sam and Merlin both do their ~magic~ using an outstretched hand. Thus when a crossover challenge came up on [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land I couldn't resist seeing who would win in a Sam-Merlin ~magic hands~ duel, just for cracky fun! ;)

We've seen before that Merlin can rival Sam in bitch!facing department, but can he beat Sam mano a mano?

WAIT YOUR TURN, MERLIN! )

BTW, if someone made a gif of these two dueling with their hands that would make my life! :D
sherrilina: (11/Rose (Doctor Who))
The other day I caught "The Doctor's Wife" re-running on BBCA and realized that I never really posted my thoughts on the rest of s6a after the premiere--and with the show coming back in less than a week (!), I figure I should do that sooner rather than later...

Random thoughts on s6 and upcoming s7 )

I've also been recently doing some Classic Who watching in an attempt to check out other Doctors...

'The Five Doctors' and 'Genesis of the Daleks Part 1' )

And over the summer I've done a fair bit of RTD!NuWho rewatching as well, now that I have been happily reunited with all my s1-4 DVDs, including introducing a half-British RL friend to her own culture the show! ;)  I've definitely noticed some new things, but mostly just feel all nostalgic for the good old days when I watch the epps; for me s1-4 is and always will be the Doctor Who that I truly love and enjoy most...

I C WUT UR DOIN THAR DOCTAH )

Speaking of DW, I also recently discovered the most amazing thing ever: SUPERWHO, the fandom marriage of Supernatural and Doctor Who on Tumblr! <333

I love it so much, it's like my two favorite shows combined as one! :DDDD (And some of these mannippers have mad talent!)

Also speaking of epic, amazing things produced by fandom, there is now a game in which you make Harry/Hermione kiss, as much as possible! :p I can't even, lol, my ship has a kissing game, it's the best thing ever, I'm already addicted (plus it's pretty/hot to watch!).

sherrilina: (Sam and Cas (Supernatural))
Here is Part 2 of my BosCon experiences, photos, and videos (find my report on Friday/Saturday of the Con here), the best part: Jared, Misha, and Mishalecki galore! :D

I'm sorry about this guy... )

I must say, this convention also revitalized my love for SN a lot, and after getting home I've begun rewatching SN epps instead of continuing my DW rewatch.  The many shitty SN fanvids I saw in between panels has also inspired me creatively, lol, it almost makes me want to sort out my program situation and begin vidding again.

sherrilina: (Sam and Cas (Supernatural))
So as many of you know, this past weekend I had the privilege of attending BosCon (a Supernatural Convention) along with [livejournal.com profile] queen_insane and [livejournal.com profile] emo_dj_steph (whom I greatly enjoyed meeting with in person at last!), and it was AMAZING! :D  I'm so thankful that I had this opportunity to finally go to one of these things while the show was still ongoing (yay season 7!), and to see Jared and Misha there together (even if Jensen wasn't there)--those two are so ridiculously hilarious and adorable, I could just watch them all day, their panels are far too short!  (If I were to ever go to a Con in the future, unlikely as that is, I might just go to their day, definitely the best part).  And gah, they definitely did not disappoint me in the Mishalecki Hijinks department during their panel, I got all I had wanted to see and more. ;)

But everyone else was great too, I really enjoyed seeing and hearing from Alona Tal, Richard Spreight, Jr, Matt Cohen, Traci Dinwiddle, and Chad Lindberg!  It was just unreal to see all of these people in person...and even more so now seeing clips and gifs of it around Tumblr and being able to think, "I was actually there, I saw this live!" :D

Anyway, below is my full experience during the con, along with some highlights of the many, many photos and videos I took during it (which are mainly to blame for my delay in doing this post, as well as for why I had to break it up into multiple posts), if anyone is interested:

Friday and Saturday with Chad, Alona, Traci, Matt, and Richard )

For Sunday with Jared and Misha's panels, see my next post! :)

sherrilina: (Arthur and Morgaine (Mists of Avalon))
So I finally caught up on Camelot, after discovering that it was all already on Netflix Streaming, and though I was originally more than okay with the cancellation news (I had basically put watching on hold, it had gotten to be so boring to me), I am rather disappointed now after finishing the season--I think it did get much better/more interesting by the end, and I would have liked to see how some of the storylines raised in the finale were continued.  But it was too little, too late, with too many writing flaws and the terrible casting decision of JCB for Arthur sealing its fate.  What wasted potential....:(

More thoughts:

I think every castle should have a pet nun... )

Anyway, one more show checked off my summer watching list now!  And now I'm getting pretty excited about Torchwood: Miracle Day (tonight!), I've heard a couple radio spots (which was pretty exciting since I get so sick of hearing radio spots for stupid-sounding shows I have no interest in ever watching) and once saw someone reading an advance review from the looks of it in the Wall Street Journal on the subway (I tried without much success to read over his shoulder, lol, I could see a big picture of Jack in his coat).  I'm curious to see what's happening with Jack and Gwen and Rhys and the new baby, and how they'll all cope moving bases to the States....though I'm also a bit nervous about how they will handle Ianto, and just whether it will be too action-y/Americanized--I'm hoping the commercials are overemphasizing that aspect because of marketing to this audience or something.  O_o  COE was amazing, and I'd love to see something like that...

Oh and here's a meme (this one snagged from [livejournal.com profile] sunnytyler001), one of many cool ones I've seen over my hiatus and that I wish to participate in--I'm bored, PLEASE give me some shows! :D

Leave me a show and I'll tell you

sherrilina: (Eric (True Blood))
Well True Blood is back, and looking up from last season so far at least! The premiere, minus the cheesy beginning, wasn't so bad, a step up from last season's premiere to be sure, and then the second epp (which I actually saw last Monday thanks to HBOGO) was much better--can't wait now for next week's epp!  And congrats HBO for FINALLY airing an episode July 4th weekend.  (Happy Fourth to everyone btw!) My brief thoughts below...

TB 4x01:

We'll stay five minutes. Ten if they've got drinks. )

TB 4x02:

Did I miss something? Are we girls now? Did we join a book club and read some queer chick-lit memoir, so now we're bonded together by estrogen or sisterhood or some other feminist drivel? )

Speaking of HBO, as I said in my last post I watched all of season 1 of Game of Thrones via HBOGO the week I got back from Europe, and here is me finally getting around to jotting down my thoughts (spoilers for s1):

He was no dragon. Fire cannot kill a dragon. )

Since watching GoT, I've also rekindled my love for the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey, which GoT reminded me a lot of actually--for all those who love GoT, I HIGHLY recommend reading these books!  Deadly palace court intrigue (including a "game of thrones"--this phrase is even used at least once or twice in the first book as I noticed while re-reading), mysteries about the past to be slowly uncovered/revealed, action and adventure, an epic, well-told love story, a complex and grey villain, an unforgettable cast of characters that you will love (I basically wanted to cry in the last book when I had to say goodbye to these characters forever, I loved and enjoyed them so much), this series has it all, and many elements that are found in GoT as well (including some explicit eroticism, but nothing really gratuitous since the protagonist is a courtesan).  I've basically spent the last few days re-reading the first book, Kushiel's Dart, and being gripped and unable to put it down despite knowing exactly what is going to happen b/c I've read it at least 3 other times...;) /obligatory favorite series pimp

sherrilina: (Castiel (Supernatural))
I only had the chance to watch the finale(s) a few hours ago, earlier tonight with dinner, and luckily I managed to remain unspoiled before watching (I was super extra paranoid and didn't even open any notification emails of posts from those of you who I know watched SN to be on the safe side, let alone go anywhere else fandomy online).  My thoughts:

Major Spoilers for 6x21 and 6x22 )

With this finale, I only have The Borgias finale (tomorrow night, woot) and the rest of DW until its mid-season finale (incl. today's epp...does anyone know where they are breaking it up, btw?  6x06 or 6x07?) to watch in the near future (since I'm giving up on Camelot and Bones until August when I have time...although Bones I almost wish I was caught up and could watch, I've already unfortunately been spoiled on some plot points and am going to try to somehow stay unspoiled on the rest until then...O_o).  It's probably just as well hiatus is coming, since I now don't really have legit time to watch so much TV at this point....

sherrilina: (Mitch/Annie (Being Human))
I've been working on this mix for a while, but it took a [livejournal.com profile] bbcland  challenge to finally push me to complete and post it, in relatively record time for me, lol!

Medium: Television
Fandom: Being Human (UK)
Subject: Mitchell/Annie
Title: Soul One
Warnings: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3!!!
Notes: A mix tracing the relationship between Mitchell and Annie throughout season 3.

She was my soul one...she felt like the only one )

Enjoy!  As always, comments much appreciated, especially if you are snagging! :)

sherrilina: (Doomsday Ten/Rose)
So I snagged this meme from [livejournal.com profile] emo_dj_steph AGES ago, and have been working on it forever (which has been interesting since the ships have really moved around and changed over time--Caroline/Tyler appeared on the first list then moved to the second list then moved back up to the first list in the space of me starting and finishing this meme, Cesare/Lucrezia appeared on the first list then disappeared then appeared again, Dan/Blair made a brief appearance on the first list and Chuck/Blair appeared on the second list, etc), since any meme that requires more effort than bolding or ticky apparently takes me forever to complete...*facepalm* Also some of these questions were tricky for me, like "Ships you're curious about but don't ship", since everything I'm really curious about/interested in I tend to ship! But tonight for some reason I felt in the mood to finish this once and for all (and have stayed up far too late doing so, ugh, priorities, I need them), so here it is!

Major spoilers for s3 Being Human, s2 DW, and s2 Merlin, minor spoilers for Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, and The Borgias:

Ships that I do and do not ship... )

And while I'm at it, here's a Character Meme as well!  Pick any character from a fandom of mine and I'll answer the following questions:

    1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
    2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
    3) Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
    4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
    5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
    6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
    7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her?
    8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
    9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?
    10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?</em>

(Of course it might take me a while, erm, but it will happen, lol! ;))

sherrilina: (Teenage Mutant Ninja Angel!Raphael (SN))
Wow....lots of shocking TV episodes this week!  I meant to post about VD yesterday, but after watching the big SN episode I have to just do that first....O_o  Big SN 6x20 spoilers obviously:

Freedom is a length of rope, God wants you to hang yourself with it )

This beautiful string cover I found on Tumblr is my angsty Supernatural soundtrack right now as I think about this episode and Cas, lol.  Need to track down a copy of it...anyway, next post about the also major but more shocking recent VD epp!

sherrilina: (Castiel (Supernatural))
First off, Happy May Day everyone, or Beltane! ;)  And Happy Borgias Day...anyway, I have a bunch of shows to post about as I've been catching up, but I think I'll start with Supernatural...

SN 6x17:

Did your grandmother piss off a gypsy? )

SN 6x18:

Is it customary to wear a blanket? )

SN 6x19:

You don't know that...they might find more wayward orphans along the way... )

Oh and since I have it on the brain right now (and have meant to post this for aeons), might as well put it here--basically I've realized that my second-favorite musical ever, Chess, could be "Supernatural: The Musical" because several of the songs can be related to the show, IMO! :p

The details... )

Anyone else know/love this musical?  I've loved it since my high school put it on....

sherrilina: (Adrian/Rose (Vampire Academy))
This past week had several important and noteworthy book-related events for me, namely 1) finishing Mockingjay at last, and then 2) finally seeing some exciting news about the plots and release dates of the final book in the Georgina Kincaid series (one of my all-time faves) AND about the forthcoming VA spinoff series (which I've been dying to know about since finishing The Last Sacrifice last December)!

First, let's talk about the Richelle Mead-related stuff, beginning with the VA spinoff news...(which I took the liberty of finally getting myself an Adrian/Rose icon for, since I now have the space and a D/R icon just isn't appropriate for this post! ;)):

Spoilers for new series and VA #6: The Last Sacrifice )

And then, after squeeing about having that summer blockbuster book to look forward to, I suddenly notice that the final Georgina Kincaid novel, apparently called Succubus Revealed, is coming out exactly one week later on August 30!!! (Or who knows, maybe it will come out earlier than that, with this series they often do show up early in bookstores). \o/ <333 I can't even...it's going to sure be a summer (or rather, month?) of Richelle Mead! :p I kind of wish that these two big summer releases were spaced out a little further apart in the summer, but on the other hand I'm going to have more free time in August than earlier to read them, so maybe it's just as well...I'll have to read the first one pretty fast to make sure I'm done in time for the GK novel! ;)

The book description for the GK book is also now on the website and quite interesting...

Cover and Description for GK#6, spoilers for #5 )

Also I must as always take a moment to pimp both of these series, but especially the Georgina Kincaid series, starting with Succubus Blues, (since fewer people I know read it, lol), to anyone who loves supernatural/urban paranormal stuff...they are SO entertaining and funny/witty (the best of Secret Diary of a Call Girl or Buffy, what have you in terms of biting wit), but also have a fascinating supernatural verse and memorable cast of characters (which for instance an OCD Martha Stewart-wannabe vampire and an Archdemon boss who is a secret John Cusack fan and drinking buddies with the area's Archangel that he used to know before he fell from grace and became a demon and all--such a cute bromance, lol), and some really compelling drama and well-written romance all at the same time. I don't know if I've ever enjoyed a book series as much as I've enjoyed reading many of the books in this one.

And then there's Mockingjay...O_o  Big Spoilers Ahoy!

You love me. Real or not real? )

I remember reading a F!S a while back (when I still read them, lol) that claimed THG was just like Animorphs--which is a ridiculous claim, but I admit that with this comparison on the mind as I finished this book, I did see several parallels between both series in terms of events, themes, moral quandaries, gritty realism, etc--all of which just show why both series are memorable and a cut above the average YA series:

Brief meta about The Hunger Games and Animorphs, MAJOR spoilers for Mockingjay and The Beginning (#54)!  )

Speaking of The Hunger Games, while I was going to reserve judgment on the movie even with the questionable actors cast in the male roles (I only know JH from playing the evil douchey Steve in the Cirque du Freak movie, hard to imagine Peeta from that role, lol), the new spoilers about the script and what has been changed are making me begin to actually think this movie will be terrible, the script sounds in parts like a badly written fanfic...:/  Anyone else see them?

And lol, since beginning this post I now see that the next Sookie Stackhouse novel is also coming out soon at the beginning of May and has a description out?  O_o  Just book news galore this week...

sherrilina: (Ten (Doctor Who))
So tonight I'm pimping two different land/challenge communities that both have to do with the BBC/British Television:  [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land  and [livejournal.com profile] bbcland!

First there's [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land, where I am a proud co-Team Leader (along with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] blue_emotion) of the resident Team HBIC, otherwise known as Team Morgana! ;)

(banner by....[livejournal.com profile] blue_emotion.  Maker of all banners it seems...;))

Basically if you enjoy Merlin, or have ever done so in the past (and perhaps still wish to remain involved in the fandom even if you are no longer into the show so much, as in my case), if you enjoy doing fanart/fanfic/whathaveyou or discussing or just playing games, if you're looking for new friends in the fandom (I made several of my closest LJ friends on this comm!), if you just want to have FUN, then this is a place for you! :)  There are all kinds of different challenges for everyone, as you compete on different teams (Morgana, Merlin, Arthur) to get the most points.  Really, I'd say 90% of my creative output for Merlin has resulted from this comm, which pushed me to really write/complete fanfic for the first time, my first picspams, etc.

Then there's [livejournal.com profile] bbcland, which is similar to [livejournal.com profile] merlin_land (and you can do Merlin-related things), except that you can also play around with other BBC/British TV fandoms....like this:

There I am also a co-Team Leader, but this time of Team Sci-Fi, naturally! ;)  The other teams are Drama and History.  In both cases you don't have to participate in every challenge, only some of them, and many of them are quick ones for those crunched for time.

So if you are addicted to BBC shows, and would like to meet new people and have fun, then consider checking out these two comms! ;)

Also, while I'm at it, I forgot to mention in my last post that [livejournal.com profile] naty_seixas made a Tumblr for Cesare/Lucrezia that is affiliated with the [livejournal.com profile] cesare_lucrezia  comm, so all you Tumblr types who enjoy the pairing should check it out! ;)

And Happy Borgias Day everyone!  If anyone is interested in a live episode discussion post, there's one going on here! ;)

sherrilina: (Cesare/Lucrezia (The Borgias))
So as anyone who follows me on Tumblr has probably noticed already, I have a shiny new fandom obsession/favorite TV show: Showtime's The Borgias!  :D  I  had been ridiculously excited for this show since seeing the trailer last January, so naturally when I heard that the premiere had been leaked early I had to watch it (as I finally managed to do the Monday before last, March 21).  It not only failed to disappoint, but quite exceeded my already high expectations! :D  I am now already completely obsessed/in love with this show, and I can't wait until it premieres "officially" and we can get the next episode!  <3333 (The promos and pics and clips from 1x03 are already killing me).

Likewise while I was already shipping Cesare/Lucrezia from the trailer and shippy promo pics alone, after this episode they are my new favorite pairing (and definitely favorite incest-ship, lol).  They have so much chemistry and smoldering UST (especially from Cesare's end), but at the same time they are so close and sweet and tender with each other, so protective and affectionate and devoted, they have both fluffy moments and plenty of angst, and have the whole "forbidden/doomed love" thing going for them since they are siblings--it's like the best of all kinds of ships rolled into one beautiful pairing!  ♥

I love them so much that, along with [livejournal.com profile] lucyskyx, I've begun an LJ comm for them (my first ever!), which I encourage any of you who enjoy this goodbadwrong pairing (whether from the premiere or just the trailers, lol) to join, if you haven't already! :) (Banner by [livejournal.com profile] blue_emotion)

[livejournal.com profile] cesare_lucrezia [livejournal.com profile] cesare_lucrezia [livejournal.com profile] cesare_lucrezia

It's going pretty well so far, we already have over 100 members (even though the show has yet to officially air, lol), I'm very excited about it all! :)  I also finally cracked and bought myself extra userpics since I was out of space and I *needed* to have an icon of these two. ;)  Anyway, more specific/spoilery thoughts on the show and its premiere (1x01-1x02):

If anything happened to her...I’d die. )

Seriously, you ALL need to watch this show, I have NEVER fallen for a show so much after just one episode, it's definitely the best premiere/pilot I've ever seen (a much stronger start than The Tudors to be sure!).  I just want to draw hearts around this premiere/show, it gives me a goofy grin on my face just thinking about it...if it keeps it up (and all signs indicate it will), it had BETTER get a shit-ton of Emmy nominations and awards, or there is no justice in this world (especially since it's not only amazing, but more of the type of show the Emmy's nominates from).  Right now it's looking like it's going to be Best Drama material for sure.  There's a reason why this show already has an "army of stans" as one commenter on [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt put it (before promptly watching and declaring herself a complete stan as well)! ;)
